What Are the Sugar Reset Ingredients?
Answer: Sugar Reset contains chromium picolinate plus a 200 mg proprietary blend of 22 botanicals and amino acids, including gymnema leaf, Coleus forskohlii, green tea, African mango, Panax ginseng, guarana, grape seed, grapefruit extract and licorice-derived glycyrrhizinate, in a liquid dropper base.
Read these three cautions first
Grapefruit fruit extract: grapefruit compounds block an enzyme (CYP3A4) that clears many drugs, raising their levels. Affected medicines include some statins, calcium channel blockers and immunosuppressants. FDA consumer update. Ask your pharmacist.
Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate (from licorice): with long-term use licorice compounds can raise blood pressure and lower potassium. Be cautious if you have hypertension, heart or kidney disease.
Guarana and green tea: natural caffeine. Sugar Reset is not stimulant free. Take it in the morning and count it toward your daily caffeine.
Chromium picolinate
An essential trace mineral involved in insulin action, listed separately from the blend. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that trials in type 2 diabetes show small and inconsistent benefits and that deficiency is rare. It is the ingredient with the most direct link to glucose metabolism.
The glucose-focused botanicals
Gymnema leaf has the best-known traditional reputation and several small human studies (PubMed). Coleus forskohlii, green tea leaf, African mango, capsicum and raspberry ketones are metabolism ingredients with modest or preliminary evidence.
Adaptogens and energy herbs
Maca, eleuthero, astragalus, Panax ginseng and guarana. Ginseng has some glucose research of its own; the others are general vitality herbs.
Amino acids
L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, L-ornithine HCl, L-tryptophan, L-carnitine and GABA. People taking antidepressants should mention the L-tryptophan to their prescriber.
Antioxidant extras
Grape seed, grapefruit fruit extract and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, the last two covered in the cautions above.
The complete blend, as one list
Gymnema leaf, Coleus forskohlii, green tea leaf, African mango, capsicum, raspberry ketones, maca, eleuthero, astragalus, Panax ginseng, guarana, L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, L-ornithine HCl, L-tryptophan, L-carnitine, GABA, grape seed, grapefruit fruit extract and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate.
What the label does not tell you
Individual amounts. With 200 mg across 22 ingredients, the average is about 9 mg each. Reviews that say “ingredient dosages not disclosed” are correct. If you want a studied dose of one ingredient, say 500 mcg of chromium or 400 mg of gymnema, a single-ingredient product will serve you better. The NIH label guide explains proprietary blends.
Why other sites list different ingredients
You may find pages under this name listing six ingredients, or berberine and cinnamon. Formulas get copied between templates. The Supplement Facts panel on the bottle in your hand is the only authority.
